Object: May 98-Trial n°29
Experimental evaluation of the auxinic effect of lactic yeast (TURVAL B0399) in poultry (broilers)
B. Braikovich DVM -Padova Italy; G. Menis-Artegna (UD) Italy

Summary
TURVAL B0399, in the  ration respectively of 1kg per 100 kg of formulated starter -type feed , 200 g per 100 kg of grower - type feed, 50g per 100 kg of  Starter feed, 200 g per 100 kg of Grower feed, 50g per 100 kg of finishing-type feed, produced the following interesting results (treated group vs. control): an increase in average live weight per head  (+7.75 %); a lower conversion index( -5.75 %);
lower mortality(-16.00 %).

Methodology of the trial
The trials were carried out at  3 breeding farms affiliated with a well-known feed factory of the area (Blasizza, Inc.). 9000 young subjects (broilers) were used in total, 4500 of which were treated with TURVAL B0399 from birth to time of slaughter and 4500 used as thecontrol group.
The distribution of the groups was organized as follows:
Breeding farm 1: 2000 control and 2000 treated
Breeding farm 2: 1500 control and 1500 treated
Breeding farm 3: 1000 control and 1000 treated

Limited yet homogeneous areas of the farms were used and which had the same climatic and environmental conditions for both the treated fowl and the fowl in the control groups.
The chickens from 0 to 3 weeks old were given a starter feed.
From the 4th to 7th week they were given a grower feed.
The last 10 days, a finishing feed.
Slaughtering took place the 50th or 51st day.
In every farm or section of the same, the same quantità of feed was administered to both the treated and control groups

An increase in the live weight in the treated groups (2.350 kg as compared to 2.140 kg in the non-treated groups) of  170 grams  which is equivalent to + 8%. The weight increase determined a major daily average weight gain per head in  the treated groups (45.71g compared to 42,30 in the non-treated groups) of 3.41 g which is equivalent to + 8,05%,
The weight gain was evident in the growing phase (after the 3rd week) and above all in the finishing phase (after the 6th week) when the treated groups also increased their ingestion.
From the moment that all groups (control and treated) were treated with the same quantity of feed, the increase of live weight in the treated subjects determined a major feed yield and a decrease of the conversion index equal to 5.75%
Since the groups were fed with the same quantity of feed it was not possibile to determine the conversion index with precision, but the fact that an indirect reduction of the conversion index was observed implicates that it could have been substantially lower (- 20-25 %)

A lower mortality rate was also observed (- 16 %).
This value is significant considering that the mortality rate, even in the control groups, was maintained low, almost physiological
The purpose of the trial was to verify if the probiotic (TURVAL B0399), is able to create an auxinic effect (a major plastic yield) in poultry (broilers), raised according to the most modern techniques of breeding, diet and sanitary hygiene. The subjects naturally did not yet have an intestinaI bacteric microflora which was already developed and bioregulated They were raised in excellent environmental and hygienic conditions , and did not undergo any particular forms of stress.
The results of this trial demonstrate that  Turval B0399 is able to exercise its probiotic action with evident auxinic effects.
